Football moves up in, AFCA Top 25

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University football team moved up a spot in both the and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Polls, which were announced recently.

Following Salisbury's 27-24 win on the road on Saturday over Montclair State to open New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play, Salisbury was ranked 14th in the poll and 15th in the AFCA poll. The Sea Gulls improved from 15th and 16th in the previous week's polls, respectively. Mary Hardin-Baylor and Mount Union remained in the top spots in both polls.

Salisbury and Wesley remain the lone representatives from the NJAC in both polls. Following a close 21-20 win on Saturday over Rowan, Wesley jumped two spots in the AFCA Top 25 to No. 8 while holding steady at No. 12 in the Top 25. Wisconsin-Oshkosh received votes in both polls after downing Wisconsin-Stout, 26-23.

Salisbury hosts Wesley on Saturday, Oct. 12 in the Route 13 Rivalry. Kickoff of the top-15 NJAC contest is set for 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
