MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Salisbury University football team climbed in the two major national rankings following Oct. 12's 45-38 win over their Route 13 rivals Wesley.
Salisbury made the biggest jump in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' Top 25 Poll as the Sea Gulls went from 15th in the poll to 11th in the poll with 735 points. In the D3football.com Top 25 Poll, the Sea Gulls jumped two spots to 12th in the rankings with 321 points. Mary Hardin-Baylor and Mount Union remained in the top spots in both polls.
Salisbury and Wesley remained the only New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) teams in both polls. Wesley dropped from eighth in the AFCA poll last week to 18th. The Wolverines moved to 15th in the latest D3football.com poll from 12th in the previous poll. Salisbury's Week 2 opponent, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, received votes in both polls.
The Sea Gulls will host the Rowan Profs in NJAC action on Saturday, Oct. 19 for Homecoming 2019. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
