SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University field hockey program officially released its 2019 schedule on Tuesday. The 2019 slate is highlighted by Salisbury hosting three teams that were ranked in the final Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll of 2018.
The 2019 season begins on Saturday, Aug. 30 against the Kean Cougars to open a two-day tournament hosted by Susquehanna University.
The Sea Gulls return home after Labor Day to start a three-game, weeklong homestand. The maroon and gold will host the Stevenson Mustangs under the lights at Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 4 before rounding out the homestand against the nationally-ranked Messiah Falcons on Sept. 7 and Washington (Md.) Shorewomen on Sept. 11.
The end of September features Salisbury facing three consecutive 2018 NCAA Tournament teams, starting on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when Johns Hopkins makes the trip across the bridge for a 6 p.m. contest. After hitting the road to battle the TCNJ Lions on Saturday, Sept. 21, the Sea Gulls take on the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) play begins on Saturday, Oct. 12 when Salisbury continues their four-game road trip against the St. Mary's Seahawks.
After wrapping up their four-game road trip in Dover, Del. taking on Route 13 rival Wesley on Wednesday, Oct. 16, Salisbury will play three of their final four regular season games at home. Salisbury will host the Christopher Newport Captains on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. in a rematch of the past two CAC Championship Finals, before wrapping up the regular season against the Southern Virginia Knights on Saturday, Oct. 26 and the York (Pa.) Spartans on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Salisbury finished the 2018 season with a 17-3 overall record and a perfect 5-0 record in the CAC to earn their 21st CAC Championship and 24th-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
