Field Hockey picked seventh in NFHCA Preseason Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll for the preseason on Tuesday and the Salisbury University field hockey team will begin the 2019 season at the seventh-ranked team in the nation.

Salisbury collected 558 points in the annual preseason poll. The defending national champion, Middlebury were selected as the favorites entering the season.

Salisbury currently has four teams in the preseason top 20 on its schedule for the 2019 season. Three of the four teams, No. 4 Messiah, No. 5 Johns Hopkins and No. 17 Christopher Newport will have to make the trip to Sea Gull Stadium during the 2019 slate. The Sea Gulls will hit the road on Sept. 21 to face the No. 6 TCNJ Lions.

The 2019 season begins on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. against the Kean Cougars to open a two-day tournament hosted by Susquehanna University.
