GILBERT, Ariz. – In the fifth week of the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll, the Salisbury University field hockey team moved up a spot to third in the Coaches' Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
Salisbury tallied 932 points in the poll after picking up a convincing 6-0 shutout win over Gwynedd Mercy on Sept. 28. It is the first time Salisbury was ranked in the top three since the 2017 season.
Middlebury remained at the top of the poll with 1089 points. Rowan was upset on Saturday by an unranked Lynchburg to drop from second in last week's poll to fourth with 848 points. The College of New Jersey moved up to second with 1009 points while Tufts rounded out the top five in the fifth spot with 829 points.
Salisbury and Christopher Newport remained the only two Capital Athletic Conference teams in the top 20. The Captains moved up two spots from 14th in last week's poll to 12th with 355 points.
The Sea Gulls begin a four-game road trip on Wednesday when they cross the bridge to Washington D.C. to take on the Catholic Cardinals. Pushback is set for 6 p.m.
