GILBERT, Ariz. – In the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll, the Salisbury University field hockey remained at No. 3 in the Coaches' Poll.
Salisbury collected 973 points in the poll. Salisbury has remained at the third spot for three consecutive weeks after winning five straight games, all shutouts. The Salisbury defense has been stout during the shutout streak as the backline has only allowed seven shots by opponents in five games.
Middlebury and TCNJ remained in the top two spots in the poll. Middlebury notched 1,090 points in the poll to sit atop the poll while TCNJ registered 1,028 points to finish second. Rowan and Vassar were defeated by Kean and Christopher Newport on Saturday to drop out of the top-five. Bowdoin and Franklin & Marshall were tabbed in the fourth and fifth spots respectively to round out the top-five in the NFHCA poll.
Christopher Newport, who are ranked 14th in the latest poll, joins Salisbury as the lone Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) teams in the top 20. The Captains will make the trip to Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday at 6 p.m. for an important CAC matchup with playoff implications. The homecoming contest between the Sea Gulls and the Captains was selected as one of the 'Games to Watch' by the NFHCA.
