SALISBURY, Md. – For the fifth consecutive week, the Salisbury University field hockey team remained at third in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Coaches Poll.
Salisbury collected 930 points in the poll to sit in the third spot with an overall record of 16-1. TCNJ took over at the top of the poll after Middlebury suffered a 1-0 loss on Oct. 26 at Tufts. The Lions are the lone undefeated team inside the Top 10. Middlebury moved to No. 2 in the poll while Bowdoin and Tufts round out the top-five in that order.
In the latest NCAA Regional Rankings, Salisbury is atop of the South region. Johns Hopkins and Christopher Newport, who Salisbury has defeated during the regular season, are ranked second and fourth respectively in the region. Franklin & Marshall and Lynchburg are the final teams that appear in the rankings for the South Region in the second and fifth spots.
Since dropping their only game of the regular season on Sept. 21 at TCNJ, Salisbury has rolled through opponents. The Sea Gulls have outscored their opponents at a 35-1 clip with eight shutouts en route to a perfect Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) record and the top seed in the CAC Tournament.
Salisbury will host the winner of the CAC First Round matchup between York and Mary Washington on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
