BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team captured its third straight Capital Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon over Southern Virginia University, 83-75, behind Blair Davis's season-high 21 points.
Three different players, including Davis, netted double-digit points as both J.P. Krotulis and Chad Barcikowski netted 19 and 14 points, respectively. Both Davis and Krotulis went 7-of-11 from the field while Barcikowski finished the night 50 percent.
The Sea Gulls (10-5, 6-2 CAC) tallied a 44-point second half to earn the victory over the host Knights. The maroon and gold tallied a 57.7 shooting percentage from the field in the second half while holding Southern Virginia (7-8, 2-6 CAC) to 48.1 percent clip and 25 percent from three-point range.
The Salisbury defense was relentless throughout the game, forcing 23 Knight turnovers, including 14 in the first half. The Sea Gulls managed to tally 29 points off of Southern Virginia turnovers, while they gave up just seven points off seven turnovers.
Davis and Krotulis helped lead the big second half outburst for the Gulls, netting a combined 26 points on a combined 10-of-13 from the field.
Overall, Salisbury shot 48.2 percent from the field, pulled down 21 rebounds, and recorded 18 steals.
Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, January 17 when it hosts Wesley College. Tip-off between the Sea Gulls and Wolverines is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
