FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference office released weekly award winners for the week ending January 14. Salisbury University men's basketball junior Blair Davis earned conference recognition as he was named CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Davis turned in a solid week helping the maroon and gold to a 2-0 week with victories over both St. Mary's College of Maryland and Southern Virginia University. Against the Seahawks Davis netted, what was at the time, a season-high performance 18 points on a 7-of-13 shooting performance from the field.
He proceeded to keep his hot streak going following up that performance with a season-best 21 points in the Sea Gulls 83-75 victory over Southern Virginia. Davis tallied 14 points in the second half including six over the final minute and a half of the game and finished the game going 7-of-11 from the field.
For the week Davis averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. He knocked down 58.3 percent of his shots including a 50 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, January 17 when it hosts Wesley College. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
