Tucker named ECAC Defensive Player of the Year; Miller named to second team

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference released its Division III men's lacrosse awards and the All-ECAC teams on Wednesday morning and Salisbury University had two players recognized, led by senior defenseman Kyle Tucker, who was named the 2018 ECAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Tucker has been the catalyst for the Sea Gulls this season playing in all 21 games for the defense helping the team to a goals against average of 7.12, which ranks 25th in the nation currently. Through 21 games this season he leads the team in both caused turnovers and groundballs totaling 36 and 85, respectively, this season. For his career Tucker has appeared in 90 games, has scooped up 236 groundballs, and posted 127 caused turnovers.

This is the second major award Tucker has picked up this season as he was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also earned the opportunity to play at the next level as Tucker was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in April.

Defensive midfielder Troy Miller rounded out the list of honorees as he was named to the All-ECAC second team. Miller has been an integral part of the Salisbury defense causing 19 turnovers while scooping up 18 groundballs. Miller was also recognized by the CAC earlier this month as he was named to the first team for his efforts this season.

Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, May 16 when it hosts Dickinson College in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The game set to begin at 7 p.m.
