BALTIMORE – In the latest edition of the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll the Salisbury University lacrosse team found itself sitting atop of the Division III Men's Lacrosse world as it jumped Wesleyan (Conn.) University for the No. 1 spot in the nation.
The Sea Gulls, who posted a 1-0 week downing Ohio Wesleyan University 18-9 on March 3, earned nine of the 14 first-place votes and totaled 275 points to move into the top spot. The Cardinals picked up the other five first-place votes and totaled 271 points to secure the second spot in the poll.
Meanwhile, the rest of the top five remained unchanged as the Rochester Institute of Technology (252) held strong at No. 3 while Tufts University (235) and Amherst College (220) rounded out the group at No. 4 and No. 5.
Capital Athletic Conference opponents York College of Pennsylvania and Christopher Newport University joined Salisbury in this week's poll. The Spartans (214) held at the No. 6 spot while the Captains (72) remained No. 15 after a 1-1 week.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, March 9 when it travels to out of conference rival Stevenson University for a prime time showdown with the Mustangs at Mustang Stadium. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
