LOUISVILLE – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its weekly USILA / Warrior and New Balance 2019 Men's Coaches Division III Poll on Monday morning and Salisbury University is the new No. 1 team as it took over the top spot in the nation.
The Sea Gulls turned in a 1-0 week taking down Stevenson University 14-9 on March 9. The maroon and gold received 17 of the possible 18 first-place votes while it totaled 359 points.
The top five saw a lot of change as former No. 1 team Wesleyan (Conn.) University (246) dropped out of the top five, moving to No. 7. The Rochester Institute of Technology (334) moved up one place to take over the second spot in the poll while Tufts University (310) and Amherst College (295) each moved up one place as well to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Capital Athletic Conference rival York College of Pennsylvania (285) makes its first appearance in the top five as it climbed one spot to No. 5 in the nation after a 2-0 week, that included a victory over now No. 11 Gettysburg College (178).
Meanwhile, fellow CAC opponent Christopher Newport University (104) moved up one place to No. 15 in this week's poll.
Salisbury returns to action on Friday, March 15 when it hosts Illinois Wesleyan University in a Friday night matchup under the lights at Sea Gull Stadium beginning at 5 p.m.
