LOUISVILLE – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association release its latest Division III coaches poll on Monday and Salisbury University maintained its stronghold on the top spot in the nation.
The Sea Gulls received 417 points and 18 of the 21 first-place votes in this week's poll, to sit 23 points clear of Amherst College, which jumped two spots and picked up the final three first-place votes. Salisbury won its two games this past weekend, defeating Illinois Wesleyan University on Friday and Montclair State University on Sunday.
Along with Salisbury, Tufts University is the only team which remained in its spot from last week in the top five, with the Jumbos holding at No. 3 with 360 points. Rochester Institute of Technology dropped two spots to No. 4 with 348 points while Cabrini University moved into the top five, up one spot, with 334 points this week.
Fellow Capital Athletic Conference members York College of Pennsylvania and Christopher Newport University each moved one spot with York falling one place to No. 6 with 318 points while the Captains moved up one position to No. 14 with 134 points.
The Sea Gulls are back in action on Saturday, March 23 hosting State University of New York at Geneseo, beginning at 1 p.m.
