BALTIMORE – The organization Inside Lacrosse released its Week 6 Men's Division III Lacrosse Media Poll on Thursday morning and the Salisbury University men's lacrosse program was the unanimous No. 1 team in the country.
The Sea Gulls went 2-0 last week downing visiting Illinois Wesleyan University and Montclair State University by scores of 22-6 and 23-1. Salisbury garnered all 14 first-place votes while it totaled 280 points to retain the top spot in the nation.
The top five saw plenty of change after a busy weekend at the Mustang classic that saw most of the top five teams in action and several top-five showdowns. Amherst College, which posted a perfect 2-0 weekend, moved up two places to No. 2 in the nation and totaled 262 points.
Tufts University (255) maintained its hold on the No. 3 spot in the nation while the Rochester Institute of Technology (234) dropped down two spots to No. 4. Cabrini University (221) moved up one spot to round out the top as the Cavaliers made their first appearance in the top five.
Capital Athletic Conference rival York College of Pennsylvania (213) dropped one spot to No. 6 in nation after a 1-1 week. Meanwhile, Christopher Newport University (88) held at No. 15 in the nation.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, March 23 when it hosts State University of New York at Geneseo. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
