LOUISVILLE – In the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll released on Monday morning, Salisbury University remained atop the nation as it was tabbed as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country.
The Sea Gulls completed a 2-0 week that saw them down No. 20 Christopher Newport University on April 10 and then pull out a thrilling come from behind victory over Washington (Md.) College in double overtime on April 13. The maroon and gold collected all 22 first-place votes and garnered 440 points.
The Rochester Institute of Technology held strong at No. 2 with 413 points while Capital Athletic Conference rival York College of Pennsylvania remained at No. 3 with 386 points. Tufts University moved up two spots to appear back in the top five as the Jumbos picked up 366 points, while Wesleyan (Conn.) University rounded out the top five falling one spot to No. 5 behind 338 points.
Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, April 17 when it hosts No. 3 York (Pa.) in a pivotal CAC matchup under the lights at Sea Gull Stadium. Faceoff between the Sea Gulls and Spartans is set for 7 p.m.
