HIGHLIGHT VIDEO: No. 2 Salisbury vs. No. 9 Denison
The second-ranked Salisbury University men’s lacrosse defeated visiting No. 9 Denison University on Wednesday night the quarterfinal round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Tournament 19-10. Cross Ferrara finished the night tying both his career-best marks in both points goals with six and five respectively. After Salisbury fell behind 2-0 Ferrara played a major role in the Sea Gulls 12-3 run to close out the half that included a seven-goal second quarter. Ferrara netted two markers in the second frame to help give the home team a 12-5 lead at the break. He was one of three players, who netted multiple goals in the quarter as both Brad Greik, who netted his first multi-goal collegiate game, and Josh Melton each found the back of the cage to aid in the offensive outburst. Overall, nine different players netted markers for the contest as 13 of the maroon and gold’s 19 goals were unassisted efforts. Corey Gwin finished the contest with four while Melton netted his 13th hat trick of the season. The defense was equally as impressive throughout the contest as the unit caused 11 Big Red turnovers led by Kevin Murphy’s three. In total seven different players recorded a caused turnover as both Drew Borkowicz and Riley Ford notched two apiece. Salisbury returns to action on Sunday, May 19 when it hosts No. 6 Cabrini University in the National Semifinal at Sea Gull Stadium.
