DENVER – Two former Salisbury University men's lacrosse teammates are set to square off against one another in Friday's Major League Lacrosse (MLL) semifinal game. Chesapeake Bayhawks defenseman Kyle Tucker and Atlanta Blaze defenseman Will Nowesnick will meet in Denver, Colo. on Friday at 7 p.m. with a trip to Sunday's championship game on the line.
A three-time All-American, 2018 United State Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Defenseman of the Year, and 2018 Salisbury graduate, Tucker was taken in the seventh round (58th overall) of the 2018 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Bayhawks and made his debut with the team this past June. He has appeared in five games this season with six caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Nowesnick, who graduated with Tucker in 2018 and was also named an All-American three times during his college career, was drafted by the Ohio Machine last October in the MLL supplemental draft. Nowesnick ultimately landed with the Blaze after the Ohio franchise was forced to fold prior to the beginning of the 2019 MLL season. The defenseman has appeared in 14 games for Atlanta since joining the team, tallying 33 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers.
Friday's semifinal matchup will be airing nationally on ESPNEWS at 7 p.m. (EST). The MLL Championship game will air nationally on Sunday at 1 p.m. (EST) on ESPN2.
