KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team held strong at No. 17 in National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top 25 poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
Salisbury (11-2-3, 7-1-0 CAC) defeated Hood College, 7-0, Saturday and St. Mary's (Md.) College, 3-0, Monday to lock up the Capital Athletic Conference regular-season title and top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Sea Gulls have a first-round bye in the tournament and will host a CAC semifinal Nov. 1.
SU finished ahead of Babson College (13-2-2), Pacific Lutheran University (13-2-0), Stevens Institute of Technology (13-2-0), Loras College (13-2-2), DePauw University (13-2-0), Calvin College (13-3-1), Catholic University of America (12-3-0) and Ogelthorpe University (13-2-0).
The top three teams remained unchanged from last week's voting. St. Lawrence University (14-0-0), Messiah College (15-0-1) and Christopher Newport University (13-0-1) led the way.
Salisbury was third in the South Atlantic regional rankings, trailing just CNU and Rutgers University-Camden (14-2-1).
The Gulls close the regular season hosting Stevenson University at the SU Soccer Complex Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
