SALISBURY, Md. – The Capital One Academic All-District soccer teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, were announced on Thursday and Salisbury University sophomore Drew Staedeli was named to the District 2 team.
Staedeli has been the last line of defense on one of the toughest defenses in the nation in 2013. He ranks seventh in the country in goals-allowed average, surrendering just 0.42 goals per 90 minutes, while Salisbury sits second in the country in shutout percentage (.72). The Ellicott City, Md., native ranks 20th in all of Division III soccer in save percentage, as well, turning away shots on goal at a .863 percent clip.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on his team. Staedeli boasts a 3.44 cumulative grade-point average, and is majoring in accounting.
Staedeli is now eligible to be selected as an Academic All-American; that team will be announced on Nov. 22.
