DANBURY, Conn. – After receiving the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men's soccer on Monday, Salisbury University junior Drew Staedeli earned Defensive Player of the Week for the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Staedeli recorded two shutouts to add to his 2014 campaign this past week, totaling four clean sheets through seven games this season. Through two games, the junior goalkeeper made seven saves, five of which were in a 0-0 draw on Saturday against William Paterson University.
Only giving up three goals so far this year, the Ellicott City, Maryland native has accumulated a 0.44 goals-against average, second best in the CAC, while his three goals against sits atop the conference.
Staedeli and the Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, as they travel to Prince George's Community College for a non-conference matchup against Roanoke College. The game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
