SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team found itself in both top-20 rankings for the second-consecutive week, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and D3soccer.com announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Sea Gulls (5-0-2) remain undefeated after recording a 1-0 victory against Washington (Md.) College and a scoreless tie against William Paterson University last week. Salisbury's defense was once again a force to be reckoned with, only allowing four goals through seven games for a 0.53 goals-against average and four shutouts.
In the NSCAA rankings, SU made a jump from No. 23 last week to No. 22 this week, while in the D3soccer.com poll, the Gulls landed at No. 15 with 276 points.
Christopher Newport University joins Salisbury as the only two Capital Athletic Conference representatives in either poll. The Captains are placed a No. 12 in the NSCAA ranking, while taking the No. 13 spot in the D3soccer.com poll.
Still reigning at the top of both polls are Messiah College and Kenyon College, respectively, as the Falcons maintain 625 points and all 25 first-place votes and the Lords tallied 592 points.
Salisbury is set to take the field on Wednesday, September 24 for its next match, as the Sea Gulls travel to Prince George's Community College for a neutral-site contest against Roanoke College. First touch is set for 4 p.m.
