Men’s Soccer Collects First Road Win at Neumann

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University men's soccer team earned their first road victory of the season with a 3-1 over the Neumann Knights on Tuesday.

THE RUNDOWN 

  • Final Score: Salisbury 3, Neumann 1 

  • Records: Salisbury (2-1) | Neuman (1-2) 

  • Location: Neumann University- Turf Stadium (Aston, Pa.) 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • After a scoreless first half, Dolph Hegewisch got the scoring going with his first goal of the season a minute into the second half.
  • Hegewisch's second goal came from a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to double up the Sea Gull lead, 2-0.  

  • Neumann's penalty kick was saved by Ryan Miller, but the rebound was followed up by Gavin Ford for Neumann's lone goal of the game in the 70th minute. 

  • Josh Woozley added an insurance goal in the 86th minute off an assist from Dylan Parks. 

GAME NOTES 

  • The Sea Gulls outshot Neumann, 18-14. 

  • Salisbury and Neumann both attempted seven corner kicks. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 

  • Freshman Ryan Miller would start the match in the goal for the Sea Gulls, making this his first collegiate start, and tallying six saves and fourteen shots faced. 

  • Dolph Hegewisch scored for the first time since the Oct. 11, 2017 game against Marymount after missing last season due to injury.

  • It was Hegewisch's first multi-goal game since Sept. 16, 2017, vs. Misericordia.
  • Josh Woozley notched the first goal of his junior campaign.

  • The Sea Gulls will head to St. Mary's City, Md. for the two-day Seahawk Classic this weekend.
  • Salisbury opens the weekend against Kean on Friday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
