YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday afternoon and senior Joe Wisda was named the conference's men's swimming Athlete of the Week.
The Rockville, Md., native helped Salisbury claim three of the five first-place finishes in the second and final day of the Kutztown Golden Bear Invitational helping the Gulls capture their first ever Golden Bear Invitational victory.
Wisda won two individual events including the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.33 seconds, falling behind the meet record, set in 1995, by just two seconds. The senior also collected a win in the 100-yard freestyle (49.96) and was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay, which turned in a top time of 3:22.76.
Salisbury will now head to York (Pa.) College to compete in a dual meet between the Spartans and Goucher College. This will be the maroon and gold's last meet until January.
