Seven Sea Gulls named to men's All-CAC third team

YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team had seven athletes named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference third team, the league announced on Thursday. The student-athletes earned the honor by placing third, in four events (three relays and one individual race), and Head Coach Jill Stephenson was honored as the men's swimming Coach of the Year after the team's performance at the CAC championships at St. Mary's (Md.) College on Feb. 15-17.

Senior Paul Zoli picked up the third-team honor in the 200-yard freestyle relay. He finished third in the race, with a time of 1:45.07. Zoli was an All-CAC selection in 2012, as well, for the same event.

Three relay teams for Salisbury earned third-team honors, as well, including the first and last teams to compete for SU at the championship weekend.

The Sea Gulls opened the weekend with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of junior Chris Franklin, sophomore Rich Ambrose, senior Eric Robichaud and freshman Will Gough finished in a time of 1:28.02.

The second day opened in similar fashion with Will Gough and Franklin teaming up with junior James Gough and sophomore Daniel Keller grabbing the third-team honor in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.43).

Zoli, Will Gough, Ambrose and Franklin finished the Sea Gulls' weekend with the third-team award in the 400-freestyle relay, the last event of the championships. The team finished just .23 seconds behind York (Pa.) College with a time of 3:11.86.

Stephenson led the men to a fourth-place finish in the CAC, coming up just four points short of York for third place.
