Gough leads the way as nine Gulls are named All-CAC selections

Gough leads the way as nine Gulls are named All-CAC selections

YORK, Pa. – At the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference swimming championships, the Salisbury University swimming teams had nine members named All-CAC performers for their efforts at St. Mary's College of Maryland from February 19-21.

Senior Will Gough swept his three individual events, the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyles to garner his second-through-fourth career first-team All-CAC honors, while breaking the school record in all three events.

With four career first-team honors, Gough becomes the winningest male swimmer in Salisbury history. Gough is just the fourth male to ever win the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyle in a single CAC championship.

Okan Eyigor was the other individual men's swimmer for Salisbury to earn All-CAC honors. Eyigor took home second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.12. The second-team nod was the second in Eyigor's career as he was a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team last season that earned the same honors.

The men also got an All-CAC relay performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Jake Blazer, Conor Johnston, Andrew Ward, and Gough swam the race in a school-record time of 1:25.17 to secure second.

The women were honored with one individual All-CAC performer in Victoria Radcliffe. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Radcliffe had set the school record in qualifying at 2:28.03, but in the finals she stripped over two seconds off of that time to finish in 2:25.72 for second-team All-CAC honors.

The women's final All-CAC honorees came in the 400-yard medley relay. Hannah Schlegel, Radcliffe, Layne Gable, and Bizu Baldinazzo broke a school record that had been set in 2012 by over three seconds to finish in 4:07.01, to capture second-team All-CAC performances.
