WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2019 calendar year with a Sunday afternoon meet at McDaniel College, where the Salisbury men earned a 60-26 victory and the women fell 53-33.
The men opened and closed the day with relay victories. The first came in the 400-yard medley relay, as the team of Richard Baker, Kyle Russell, Jake Ryan, and Andrew Ward clocked a time of 3:42.12. The second came in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as Ryan, Peter Moyer, Jeff Roman, and Josh Brown finished in a time of 3:36.92.
Moyer earned the first individual victory of the afternoon for the men, winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.97. Moyer also finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.09.
Brown also captured two victories, with the first coming in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 21.70 seconds. Brown later tallied his second first-place finish of the day in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 49.32 seconds.
Ryan also collected an individual victory, claiming the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:04.72.
Russell earned the final individual victory of the day for the men, finishing first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.51.
McClure earned the lone individual victory of the day for the women, winning the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.27 seconds.
