Swimming wins first CAC meet at Southern Virginia

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Salisbury University men's and swimming teams each earned their first Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) win against the Southern Virginia Knights on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 Men

  • Josh Brown placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (57.29) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.18).
  • In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kyle Russell earned first with a time of 1:02.00 and won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.29.
  • Richie Baker added individual titles in the 100-yard butterfly (54.82) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.51).
  • Sean Cochran won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.71. Cochran also finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.18.
  • Mitchell McGee won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.62) and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Nathan Braun finished second in the 200-yard freestyle clocking in at 2:04.87.
  • Brandon Hoagland earned second in the 100-yard with a time of 56.95.
  • In the 50-yard freestyle, Jeff Rowan finished second in 23.49.
  • The quartet of Russell, McGee, Brown, and Baker finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:30.96.

Women

  • Jordan DeGruchy won a pair of races in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.03) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:29.52).
  • Chase McClure also earned two medals in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.47) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.82).
  • Natalie Eakin earned first in 200-yard IM with a time of 2:27.83.
  • Emily Gavigan placed first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:53.70.
  • Ellen Berry placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with the time of 1:10.67.
  • Teagan Rohrbaugh finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke clocking in at 1:12.56.
  • Kiki Graham finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.77) and second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.61).
  • Angela Barzanti placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:07.90) and in the 200-yard IM (2:31.81)
  • Laila Libertin placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.75)
  • Madi Eyler placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.98
  • Kayleigh Bohs also earned second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:59.17)
  • Mary Green earned second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.77)
  • Allisen Hunter placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:40.98)
  • The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Eakin, Degruchy, Graham, McClure earned second with a time of 1:48.77

MEET NOTES

  • The men's team earned eight individual titles.
  • The women's team picked up nine individual titles.
