FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly tennis honors on Tuesday and Salisbury University junior Alec Angradi was named the league's Men's Player of the Week.
Angradi was key in the Sea Gulls' 5-4 win against No. 26 Christopher Newport University on Saturday – Salisbury's first men's tennis win against the Captains since 2015.
In doubles play, after Christopher Newport picked up the first point, Angradi and classmate Patrick MacLean earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to tie the match.
In singles action, with Salisbury holding a 4-2 lead, it was Angradi that sealed the victory for the Sea Gulls with his victory at No. 1. The Ellicott City, Maryland native came up with a 6-4, 7-5 win against Dominic Lacombe, the seventh-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South Region.
Angradi and the Sea Gulls will play for the CAC regular season title on Wednesday, traveling to No. 16 University of Mary Washington. Each team enters their CAC finale with a perfect 6-0 mark. The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
