Johnson named CAC Pitcher of the Week for second time

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly awards on Monday and Salisbury University freshman pitcher Rachel Johnson was named the league's Softball Pitcher of the week for the second time this season.

Johnson worked one game in the Sea Gulls' only doubleheader of the week against the University of Mary Washington. The Preston, Md., native picked up her 10th victory on the year against the Eagles with a single-game high of 14 strikeouts. The freshman had a no-hit bid going into the seventh inning.

With the award three different Sea Gulls have earned a weekly award from the CAC. Senior Erika Brittingham has also claimed the Pitcher of the Week honors twice, while junior shortstop Hannah Mills was named Player of the Week.

Salisbury will take to the field again on Tuesday, March 10, when it hosts Wesley College at the SU Softball Field for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
