STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Salisbury University softball team made its way to No. 17 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III top 25 poll after winning five games this past week for an 32-5 overall record.
The Sea Gulls (71 points) inched up one spot after being ranked 18th last week. Salisbury has now won 22-consecutive games and is the No. 1 seed in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament.
The top five teams in the nation remain the same with Linfield College collecting all eight first-place votes and 200 points. Emory College sits at No. 2 in the nation for the fourth week in a row with 189 points followed by Eastern Connecticut State University (183 points). Luther College and Pacific Lutheran University round out the top five with 179 points and 168 points, respectively.
Salisbury will face York (Pa.) College in the second round of the CAC tournament on Thursday, April 19. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m., at the SU Softball Field. The Spartans are now facing elimination following a 5-3 loss to the Bobcats of Frostburg State University on Tuesday.
The Sea Gulls will host the remainder of the CAC tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
