LOUSIVILLE – The Salisbury University softball team, despite not being able to take the field in 2015 due to the weather, has held steady as the No. 2 team in the nation in the coaches' poll, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls received 191 points while Tufts University holds the top spot with all eight first-place votes and the maximum 200 points. The Jumbos have also not played a game yet this season. The two teams are two of 12 teams in the top 25 to not play yet.
Behind Salisbury, East Texas Baptist University (185 points), the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (172), and Christopher Newport University (167) round out the top five.
The Sea Gulls are scheduled to take the field this Saturday and Sunday, March 6 and 7, hosting Washington & Jefferson University and The College of New Jersey at the SU Softball Field.
