LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team will remain the No. 5 team in the nation heading into this week's Capital Athletic Conference tournament at the SU Softball Field as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its latest Top 25 Coaches' Poll on Wednesday.
Salisbury, which went 8-0 last week, garnered 168 points this week as the top-seven teams remained unchanged from a week ago. The Sea Gulls are just eight points behind No. 4 Virginia Wesleyan College.
The top squad remains the University of Texas-Tyler, with all eight first-place votes and the maximum 200 points, followed by Luther College with 192 points and Texas Lutheran University with 184 points.
Salisbury is the top seed in this week's CAC tournament, which begins on Thursday, April 21 and is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, April 23. The Sea Gulls open play on Thursday at 2 p.m., against the winner of the day's first game between fourth-seeded York College of Pennsylvania and fifth-seeded University of Mary Washington.
