FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its first softball awards for the season on Monday and Salisbury University sophomore Dakotah Fraley made an immediate impact on the team, being named the league's Player of the Week.
Fraley helped Salisbury to a 3-1 weekend at the Sea Gull Early Bird Tournament with two wins against Keystone College and another against The College of New Jersey.
Fraley, who transferred into Salisbury for the 2017-18 year, made the most of her debut in maroon and gold, going 4-for-4 in the opener against Keystone, with a pair of doubles and smashing her first home run for the Sea Gulls, driving in four runs. For the weekend Fraley batted .600 with four doubles and the home run, scoring six times and five runs driven in.
The Sea Gulls will host another event this weekend, the Salisbury University Softball Tournament, welcoming Washington (Md.) College and Clarkson University to Sea Gull Softball Stadium. The event begins on Saturday, March 3 at 10 a.m., with Salisbury squaring off with Clarkson. Each team will play two games both Saturday and Sunday.
