FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly softball awards on Monday afternoon and Salisbury University senior Annie Pietanza picked up an honor being named the league's co-Player of the Week.
This past week, Salisbury won all four of its CAC games, with Pietanza leading the offensive onslaught with, going 9-for-14 at the plate for a .643 batting average, with seven of the nine hits resulting in extra bases for a 1.357 slugging percentage.
In Salisbury's 5-2 extra-inning win at Frostburg State University on Saturday, it was Pietanza's solo home run to lead off the top of the eighth inning that broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the game winner.
Pietanza had at least two hits in each of the Sea Gulls' four games this past week and is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak with two or more hits in seven of the contests.
The Sea Gulls are back in action on Tuesday, April 17 for the team's final non-conference action of the regular season at Catholic University of America, beginning at 3 p.m.
