Jim Jones became the head coach of Salisbury University men’s and women’s cross country and track & field in July 1999 and enters his 27th season at the helm in 2025-26.

Coaching Career Prior to Salisbury
Jones came to Salisbury after serving five years as the XCTF head coach at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. Prior to that he was an assistant for two years each at Otterbein College and Mount Union College (now the University of Mount Union). Jones served on the NCAA National Track & Field Committee from 2001-05 and as the Committees Chair from 2004-05.
Athletic Career
Jones graduated from Mount Union College (now the University of Mount Union) in 1991, where he was a four-year member of the XCTF teams. Jones served as team captain of the cross country squad for three seasons and was an NCAA national qualifier in cross country. In 2024, Jones was named the recipient of the Duke Barret Award for Excellence from the M Club at Mount Union.
Personal Life
A native of Coshocton, Ohio, Jones lives in Salisbury with his wife Amy and his children Hope and Morgan.
