NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Salisbury University track & field program traveled to Capital Athletic Conference rival Christopher Newport University to compete in the Vince Brown Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Kyleigh Dumas got the women's team off to a flying start earning the first victory of the day for the Sea Gulls, placing first in the pole vault. Dumas cleared the bar a height of 10' 8.25" to earn the win. Teammates Julia Mullen and Kara Osborne turned in solid performances as well placing third and fifth respectively. Mullen cleared the bar at a height of 10' 2.5" while Osborne posted a vault of 9' 2.5."
Colleen Howard turned in a solid performance in the high jump earning a sixth-place finish with a jump of 4' 9.75."
Ashley Mazer picked up the team's second victory of the day earning the win in the 5,000-meter run coming home in a time of 19:21.64. Teammate Sydney Ruckel came in just behind Mazer finishing the race in a time of 19:35.71 to place third.
In the women's 400-meter dash Alicia Meier came home in a time of 1:02.07 to finish fourth.
Shea McCloskey earned the maroon and gold's third victory of the day placing first in the 800-meter run coming home in 2:25.42. Alyssa McCloskey came in less than a second behind her older sister finishing second after posting a time of 2:25.86. Teammate Julianna Ancalmo finished sixth after crossing the finish line in a time of 2:28.36.
Allison Keller earned a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run coming home in 11:12.52.
In the women's 4x400-meter relay the team of Caitlyn Rishell, Ebinama, Shea McCloskey, and Farley earned a second-place finish with a race time of 4:13.04. Meanwhile, the team of Ancalmo, Alyssa McCLoskey, Lianna Foianini, and Meier place fourth with a time of 4:19.50.
Jeffrey McInnis was solid for the maroon and gold in the field events placing sixth in the long jump posting a jump of 21' 8.75." He would also earn a third-place finish in the triple jump recording a jump of 42' 5.5."
Freshman Zachary Stump earned Salisbury's fourth victory of the afternoon placing first in the pole vault. Stump cleared the bar at a height of 13' 11.75" to earn the win.
In the track events Conner Masteran posted the fifth victory of the day earning the win in the 5,000-meter run coming home in a time of 15:11.42. Mason Kimbell finished fourth in the event posting a time of 15:42.99.
Emmanuel Porquin finished third in the mile run finishing in a time of 4:32.10. Porquin also earned a third-place finish in the 800-meter run completing the race in 2:00.53.
Salisbury returns to action on Friday, February 8 when it takes part in the two-day Eastern Shore Combined and Multis Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
