DOHA, Qatar – Former Salisbury University track & field athlete Luke Campbell is set to represent Germany in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Track & Field Championships, which will be held at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
Campbell, who was a 10-time national champion and a 16-time All-American during his time at Salisbury from 2012-2016, earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles event at the European Cup Team Championship last month with a time of 49.24 seconds.
Salisbury Head Track & Field Coach Jim Jones knew there was something special about Campbell from the first time they met and is excited to watch that focus, dedication, and determination blossom into a successful professional career.
"We are so proud of what Luke was able to accomplish here at Salisbury University and over the past three years as a professional athlete running in Germany," Jones said. "I know he will continue to strive for excellence and hope he reaches all his goals at this weekend's championships and, hopefully, next year at the Olympics."
The men's 400-meter event is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 27 at 10:35 EST. Campbell will race in lane two for the second heat of the event.
