Gulls bring in New Year as No. 19/21 in latest rankings

SALISBURY, Md. – Since the last national rankings were released on December 16, 2014, the Salisbury University women's basketball team has gone 3-1 on the court. With the first rankings of the New Year being announced Tuesday afternoon, the Sea Gulls have maintained a spot in both polls.

Salisbury (10-1, 4-0 CAC) headed into its holiday tournament at Montclair State University, defeating Illinois Wesleyan University before falling for the first time all season to the Red Hawks. The Sea Gulls bounced back with a win against Capital Athletic Conference-opponent Southern Virginia University a week later, to start off 2015 with their 10th victory of the season.

With the 3-1 record over the past several weeks, the Gulls have moved up a spot to No. 19 in the USA Today coaches' poll, while maintaining the No. 21 position in the ranking.

SU remains the only team from the conference to secure a spot in either top-25 poll, while the Gulls sit atop the league standings with an unblemished 4-0 record.

Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham continues to hold the top spot in both rankings with its perfect 12-0 record. Thomas More College comes in at No. 2 with its undefeated record of 11-0.

The Sea Gulls get back on to the court on Wednesday, January 7, as Salisbury travels to the University of Mary Washington for a clash between the last two remaining undefeated teams in the conference. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
