YORK, Pa. – For the second time this season and sixth of her career, senior guard Anna Hackett of the No. 19 Salisbury University women's basketball team was awarded Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Hackett helped the Gulls put together another 2-0 week on the court, defeating the University of Mary Washington, 69-63, and York College of Pennsylvania, 91-81, to maintain their unblemished record and the top spot in the league.
Against Mary Washington, the Germantown, Maryland native recorded a game-high 28 points, before traveling back to Maggs Physical Activities Center to drop a game-high 27 points against the Spartans. Prior to the two games last week, Hackett was at the No. 7 spot on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,452 career points. By the end of the week, she moved up four spots to No. 3 with 1,507. Bypassing alumnae Kim Fiedler (1983-'87), Amy Fenzel (1991-'96), Elisabeth Barfuss (1997-'01), and Dawn Webb (1985-'89), the senior guard is just 33 points shy of moving up to No. 2, currently held by Lisa Neylan (1997-'01) with 1,540 career points.
Hackett and the Sea Gulls take the court on Wednesday, January 14 for their next game, as Salisbury welcomes Marymount (Va.) University to Maggs for a CAC clash between two of the top teams in the league. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
