SALISBURY, Md. – The final rankings of the regular season were released Tuesday afternoon, and the Salisbury University women's basketball team landed a spot in both rankings, D3hoops.com and USA Today announced.
The Sea Gulls finished off the regular season on the road last week, falling for the first time all season in the Capital Athletic Conference to Marymount (Va.) University before capping off the trip with a comeback victory over York College of Pennsylvania to conclude conference play with a 17-1 record.
SU landed at No. 19 this week in the D3hoops.com poll, receiving 186 points, while earning a No. 18 ranking in USA Today coaches' poll off 62 points. Salisbury remains the only team in the CAC to earn a spot in the top 25 of either poll for both men and women.
The top-two teams in the country remain undefeated with a perfect 25-0 record, as Thomas More College comes in at No. 1 and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) follows at No. 2.
The women are back in action on Thursday, February 6, as the Gulls host a conference semifinals matchup at Maggs Physical Activities Center. Top-seeded Salisbury will take on the winner of first-round play between No. 4-seeded Christopher Newport University and No. 5-seeded York. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
