MINNEAPOLIS – With the national tournament set to begin on Friday, March 6 for the No. 18 Salisbury University women's basketball team, D3hoops.com has released its final Team of the Week for women's basketball and senior point guard Anna Hackett has earned one of the five national honors, the organization announced Tuesday.
Posting two 20-plus point games last week in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament, the Germantown, Maryland native recorded game-highs in several categories in both contests. Against York College of Pennsylvania in the semifinals, she led in points and assists with 21 and eight, respectively. In the title game against the University of Mary Washington, she led in both categories again with 26 points and six helpers.
For the week, she totaled 47 points, including 11-for-12 from the free-throw line, and 14 assists.
Hackett is joined on this week's team by Wittenberg University's Darbie Zirkle, Oglethorpe University's Ciaira Hughes, Montclair State University's Melissa Tobie, and Wisconsin Lutheran College's Kristen Shulz.
Hackett and the Gulls will take the court on Friday against Bridgewater State University for the right to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., in Maggs Physical Activities Center.
