Salisbury tallied 54 points to take the fifth spot in the conference poll. The University of Mary Washington was voted first by the CAC coaches, taking five of the first-place votes and accumulating 76 points. Christopher Newport University earned three first-place votes to go along with 71 points for second in the conference, while Marymount (Va.) University was tabbed third, grabbing the last two first-place votes and 60 points.

York College of Pennsylvania sits just one point behind Marymount at fourth place with 59 points. Wesley College (38 points), St. Mary's College of Maryland (34 points), Penn State University-Harrisburg (23 points), Southern Virginia University (20 points), and Frostburg State University (15 points) round out the second half of the poll.

Salisbury finished last year's historic season with a 28-3 record, collecting a Capital Athletic Conference championship along the way and making a run all the way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament. The Sea Gulls return starting senior Julia McLaughlin, along with seven more returners and nine newcomers. McLaughlin averaged 8.3 points per game last season and led the team with six rebounds per game. McLaughlin was also tough on defense for the Gulls last year, leading the team in blocks per contest with 1.2, and tallying just under two steals per game.

The Sea Gulls will begin their season on Saturday, November 14 when they travel to Virginia Beach, Virginia to take on Virginia Wesleyan College. That game is set for 2 p.m.
