McLaughlin earns her first CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award

The Capital Athletic Conference announced its first weekly women's basketball Player of the Week award of the season on Monday, recognizing Salisbury University women's basketball senior forward Julia McLaughlin with the honor.

This is McLaughlin's first CAC Player of the Week award, as she recorded a double-double with 22 points and 19 rebounds in the Sea Gulls' 61-57 win over Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday, November 14. Both marks are career single-game highs for the Monkton, Maryland native. She also helped the Sea Gulls with three steals, two blocks and two assists in the contest.

McLaughlin led the team in its fourth-quarter comeback victory against the Marlins, tallying eight of her 19 total rebounds in the fourth quarter and helping the Sea Gulls catch up from a six-point deficit.

Salisbury will be back in action when it hosts the Optimist Tournament on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at the Maggs Physical Activities Center. The Sea Gulls will take on Methodist University on Friday for the first day of the tournament with a 5:30 p.m., start.
