YORK, Pa. – After coming off a 2-0 week with wins over Penn State University-Harrisburg and Washington (Md.) College, senior Julia McLaughlin of the Salisbury University women's basketball team was named the Capital Athletic Conference co-Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The award marks the second for McLaughlin this season, who was also selected as the player of the week on Tuesday, November 16.
McLaughlin had a strong week for Salisbury, leading the Sea Gulls to a 65-55 win over Penn State-Harrisburg and a 60-45 victory against Washington.
Against the Lions on Wednesday, December 9, the Monkton, Maryland native tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Sea Gulls to the victory. On Saturday, the forward had another big performance, posting her second double-double in a row with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Shorewomen. McLaughlin also added seven assists and five steals against Washington.
For the week, McLaughlin averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals to lead Salisbury.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action after winter break when they travel to Orlando, Florida on Monday, December 28, to take on Messiah College for the first game of the Orlando Tournament. That game is set for 3 p.m.
