McLaughlin named to CoSIDA Academic All-District women’s basketball team

SALISBURY, Md. – For the first time in her career, senior forward Julia McLaughlin of the Salisbury University women's basketball team was named to the Division III College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District women's basketball team, the organization announced Thursday. McLaughlin becomes the second player in program history to be honored with the award.

McLaughlin, who has been a senior leader for the Sea Gulls this season, is currently second in the Capital Athletic Conference in scoring (15.1) and sixth in the league rebounds per game (8.2); she leads the team in both categories. McLaughlin has also recorded seven double-doubles this season.

The Monkton, Maryland native sports a 3.74 GPA as a nursing major. To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve on her team.

McLaughlin is now eligible to be selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. Salisbury has had one Academic All-American in women's basketball, with Amy Campion earning the award in 2003.

McLaughlin and the Sea Gulls will travel to take on Southern Virginia University on Saturday, February 13, for a CAC matchup. That game is set for 1 p.m.
