McLaughlin named to All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team

MINNEAPOLIS – After finishing a career season and earning Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2016, senior Julia McLaughlin of the Salisbury University women's basketball team was named to's All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team, the organization announced Monday.

In addition to earning CAC Player of the Year this season, McLaughlin also earned first-team All-CAC honors during the 2015-16 season for the first time after being named second-team all-conference last season and Rookie of the Year her freshman campaign.

McLaughlin was the top performer for the Sea Gulls all season long, leading the squad with 15.1 points per game (second in the CAC) while pulling down the fifth-most rebounds in the conference with 8.5 per contest.

The Monkton, Maryland native finished the season with a team-leading 10 double-doubles. McLaughlin also pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds against Virginia Wesleyan College on November 14, 2015 and scored a career high in points (27) against Christopher Newport University on December 2, 2015.

McLaughlin ended her illustrious four-year campaign donning the maroon and gold with 976 points, 589 rebounds, and 186 steals, while helping the team earn a CAC championship and an appearance in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
