With a minute remaining and ahead 23-21, Southern Virginia's Savanna Christensen scored five straight points, but a Courtney Brigham layup at the buzzer cut the deficit to five as the teams headed to the locker room with the Knights leading, 28-23.

The third quarter began with another Southern Virginia triple to go ahead eight, but Salisbury scored the next four points to cut the deficit to four. A 10-2 run by the Knights followed and pushed the lead to 41-29 in favor of the visitors. Salisbury again battled back, scoring the next seven points including a three-pointer by Kylie Webb. Southern Virginia scored eight of the first nine points in the overtime period to build some space. An Otlowski jumper with 1:38 remaining cut the deficit to five, but the Sea Gulls could not overcome the strong defensive play by the Knights.
