SALISBURY, Md. – The newest women's lacrosse rankings were released Monday by Lacrosse Magazine and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, and the Salisbury University women's lacrosse team stands in the top 20 in both polls.
In the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, the Gulls sit as the No. 13 team in the nation, following Saturday's defeat at Washington and Lee University, which now stands at No. 11. The State University of New York at Cortland is the new No. 1, despite not taking the field, followed by Gettysburg College, Franklin & Marshall College, Bowdoin College, and Trinity (Conn.) College.
In the IWLCA poll, the Sea Gulls (1-2) stand at No. 16, having received 108 points in the poll. There is a tie atop the poll as Franklin & Marshall and Gettysburg each received 374 points, though the Diplomats grabbed six first-place votes to Gettysburg's four. Cortland (368 points and nine first-place votes) is third, followed by Tufts University (319 points) and Bowdoin (305 points and one first-place vote).
From the Capital Athletic Conference, York College of Pennsylvania also appears in both polls, at No. 12 in the coaches poll and No. 16 in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings. St. Mary's College of Maryland also stands No. 20 in the LM rankings.
The Sea Gulls return to the field on Saturday, March 14, hosting York at Sea Gull Stadium. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
