Sea Gulls enter 2016 as No. 7 team in the country

BALTIMORE – After earning a 14-4 record and hosting an NCAA tournament second-round game, the three-time national champion Salisbury University women's lacrosse team will look to get back on top, entering the 2016 season as the No. 7 team in the country, according to the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Women's Division III Preseason Top 20.

The Sea Gulls bring back a bevy of experience for the 2016 campaign, including All-American Megan Wallenhorst for her senior season, who led Salisbury in scoring in 2015 with 34 goals, and 2015 Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year Gianna Falcone, who will be back in the net for the Gulls. Head Coach Jim Nestor, the winningest coach in CAC history, also returns at the helm for Salisbury for his 15th season.

SU has a tough road ahead, as it is scheduled to take on seven of the top-20 teams in the nation, including three top-five teams in No. 2 Trinity (Conn.) College, No. 3 Franklin & Marshall College, and No. 5 Gettysburg College.

The Sea Gulls will begin their season on February 14, as they face off with Roanoke College at Sea Gull Stadium. That game is set for 1:30 p.m.
