The second-ranked Salisbury University women’s lacrosse team continued its undefeated start to the season on Wednesday, defeating Christopher Newport University 18-6 in Capital Athletic Conference action, moving to 12-0 on the season and 4-0 in CAC play. The Sea Gulls used a balanced scoring effort with seven different players scoring at least two goals, led by Krissy Murphy’s hat trick. Murphy scored three goals on just three shots in the game, with all three of her goals coming unassisted. Murphy now ranks second on the team with 28 points on 13 goals and 15 assists. Emily McQuay led the charge at both ends of the field for Salisbury, recording two goals, one assist, three caused turnovers, one groundball, and one draw control. Dana King also tallied two goals and one assist in the victory, helping Salisbury jump out to a 5-1 lead midway through the first half. King and the Sea Gulls outshot the Captains 33-13 in the game. Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, April 14 as the Sea Gulls host No. 5 University of Mary Washington at 1 p.m.
